🌿 The Heart of Żurek - Zakwas (Fermented Rye Starter)

🌿 The Heart of Żurek - Zakwas (Fermented Rye Starter)

Hello, hello, hello…

Before Easter arrives…
before the table is set and the family gathers…

There is a quiet moment in the kitchen.

A jar on the counter.
Flour, water, garlic…
and time.

This is where Żurek begins.
Not in a pot, but in patience.

🌿 The Rhythm of Polish Easter

As we move closer to Palm Sunday, something shifts: windows are opened and washed,
homes are refreshed, palmsĀ are prepared by hand
and in the kitchen… we begin again

šŸ‘‰ This is the moment to start your zakwas

Because Żurek cannot be rushed.

ItĀ needs 7–8 days to develop that deep, slightly sour flavor that defines one of the most beloved Polish Easter traditions.

🌾 Zakwas — The Heart of Å»urek

Zakwas is simple…
And yet, it carries generations. It is the reason Żurek tastes like home.

šŸ•Šļø A Lesson in Time

Zakwas teaches us something we often forget…

Good things take time. In this small jar, sitting quietly on your counter,
you begin to feel Easter coming closer each day.
